Age of Empires IV
Recently, I started to play Age of Empires IV. For me, this game is not what I usually play, but many people told me that this game is actually good and offers serious education. So I had to try it out. It did not take long to realize what everybody meant: I really learned something about the medieval period!
What is the game about?
Age of Empires IV is the latest edition of the popular real-time strategy game series. Developed by Relic Entertainment and published by Xbox Game Studios, the game is set during the medieval period and allows players to build and manage their own empires. The game includes various civilizations, each with their unique units, strengths, and weaknesses, making it a challenging and engaging experience.
Players can choose to play as one of eight civilizations, including the English, Mongols, and Delhi Sultanate. Each civilization has its own unique campaign, which follows a historical timeline and includes significant events and battles. The campaigns are not only entertaining but also informative, providing players with valuable insights into the history of each civilization.
History Depicted in Age of Empires IV
One of the most significant aspects of Age of Empires IV is its historical orientation. The game developers have gone to great lengths to provide accurately depicted events, cultures, and civilizations of the medieval period. From the architecture, weaponry, and clothing to the various campaigns, every detail has been researched and incorporated into the game.
In addition to the gameplay, Age of Empires IV also includes documentary-style cutscenes between levels. These cutscenes are informative and provide players with a better understanding of the historical context of each battle and campaign. The cutscenes feature interviews with historians and experts, who share their knowledge and insights into the events and people depicted in the game.
The cutscenes are not only informative but also visually stunning. The developers have used state-of-the-art technology to create realistic and detailed depictions of medieval life, architecture, and warfare. The attention to detail is evident in every frame, making the cutscenes an integral part of the game experience.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Age of Empires IV is a game that not only entertains but also educates. The historical accuracy of the game is commendable, and the attention to detail is impressive. The inclusion of documentary-style cutscenes adds to the educational value of the game and provides players with a better understanding of the history depicted in the game. Although not a fan of the game type in general, I enjoyed playing this one.
